About Us
The Student Union is you. Maybe you didn’t know that you are a part of our group, but you became a member as soon as you were enrolled as student at University of Copenhagen.
The Student Union is you and us and all other 40.000 students at the University of Copenhagen. For more than 100 years we have worked to create a better university – socially, academically and politically.
This one-and-a-half minute video explains everything you need to know about the Student Union:
The social environment
One of our most important tasks is to create communities for students. Each year we welcome all new students with a student handbook, a big study start event at South Campus and other events. We're constantly working to improve the wellbeing of students and every year we hand out thousands of kroner to support social student initiatives.
The academic experience
We're working towards becoming a world-class university. Students are organized in subject and faculty councils to make sure that students are involved in the shaping of our courses and the direction of research. We don't compromise on quality, and we demand more feedback, modern curricula and less pressure on students to finish faster.
The political framework
We are fighting for open and equal access to our university. But when politicians in the Danish Parliament cut our SU, draft reforms that force us to complete our studies too fast or attack specific students' rights, they undermine our goal of open and equal access. We are always ready to put our foot down and stand up for our dream; a university for everyone. We have shown before that when we stand together, we can prevent cuts and reforms.
